The NVPP is pleased to announce the addition to our "Scholarship" section of a paper by noted haiku poet, scholar and anthologist Cor van den Heuvel. The paper, titled, NICK VIRGILIO AND AMERICAN HAIKU: CREATING HAIKU AND AN AUDIENCE, was prepared for the International Haiku Forum held in Matsuyama, Japan, in 1990.



DECEMBER 1, 2001
NVPP Curator Tom Hartman will speak at the rescheduled NE regional meeting of the Haiku Society of America in New York City. Mr. Hartman will read selected published and unpublished poems by Nick Virgilio and give a brief introduction to the project, its scope and goals for the future.

MARCH 22, 2001
Kathy Volk Miller, part-time lecturer at Rutgers and Director of the Camden Online Poetry Project, will be speaking at the upcoming Associated Writing Programs (AWP) conference in Palm Springs, CA, April 19th to the 21st.

In addition to Ms. Volk Miller, COPP also will be represented at AWP by Painted Bride Quarterly Editor-in-Chief Marion Wrenn and PBQ Senior Editor and NVPP Curator Tom Hartman, who will participate in the panel discussion "The Logistics of Running an Online Publication."
